Special Program – View from Within
Although the uprising of Iranian women against the rule of the mullahs began with Mahsa Amini’s death in the custody of the moral police due to her misaligned hijab, it was actually a spark to a fire that had been smoldering beneath the ashes. The fire was rooted in years of oppression of women, not only by governments and religious powers but also by the very traditional beliefs of the people that bound the women with both visible and invisible chains.
Regarding these restrictions, we present some special films made in Iran. Some of them are even banned from being shown in Iran. Each of the unique films is a clear testament to how the restrictions have impacted women’s lives.
